Denise Walthers is founder and president of the DW Group, an executive consulting company specializing in manufacturing and marketing to support women-owned businesses in bringing innovative new products and ideas to marketplace.



What motivated you to start your business?

What motivated me was the opportunity to be an entrepreneur and create the environment that is flexible for women.
What is the greatest barrier you faced in launching your business and how did you overcome it?

The greatest barrier was time and executing the financial resources to launch successfully.
Do you have a mentor? How did you find him/her?

In my career I have been blessed with many mentors who have coached and guided me, leading by example. Coming from a beauty industry and background where women helping women was the philosophy, this was pinnacle to my success. I am very passionate about this topic.
If you could go back in time to when you were first starting, what would you tell yourself, with the intention of avoiding mistakes and heart ache?

Mistakes are part of growth. I believe when we analyze and create our plan there is nothing that can stop us from success.
What resources have been most helpful to you?

Business and motivational books have always inspired me toward personal and professional development.  Lumina Spark partnership has been my my best resource as it is an exciting training and development initiative through state of the art assessment tools that uses 4 color energies, 8 aspects, 24 qualities to “spark” your development and self-awareness. It also gives each person the opportunity to explore deeper levels of your personal and professional strengths and your innate talents.
What does success look like for you?

Success to me is leading with people, purpose and passion – advocating the overall importance of working together and achieving target goals. By working together, people can achieve much more than they would individually.
What do you do to recharge?

Yoga and walking are my favorite ways to recharge.
What’s your advice for a young woman that’s considering starting her own business?

Create a solid business plan and surround yourself with people that our successful and a positive influence.
