Every month we spotlight one of our Council Member organizations to keep you up to date with their most recent initiatives and events, what resources they provide and how you can get involved in their amazing work. The NWBC Group of Six includes the representatives of the participating women’s business organizations: Association of Women Business Centers, Astia, National Association of Women Business Owners, Women Business Enterprise National Council, Women Impacting Public Policy, and Women Presidents’ Organization.
The Group of Six leads the process of identifying, monitoring and analyzing programs, initiatives and policies currently at the forefront of their respective organizations. This committee works to educate the Council on new and existing programs that are making a difference in the advancement of women-owned businesses and assess opportunities for improvement of those programs.
This month we are featuring Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP). Founded in 2001, WIPP is a national recognized, nonpartisan voice for women entrepreneurs, advocating on behalf of its coalition of 4.7 million businesswomen, including 78 business organizations. WIPP identifies important trends and opportunities and provides a collaborative model for the public and private sectors to increase the economic power of women-owned businesses.
Their strategic priorities for 2015 includes:
- Utilizing the successful model of WIPP’s ChallengeHER and Give Me 5 procurement education programs to expand their business educational programming in the areas of export and access to capital.
- Continuing the work of educating and engaging women business owners in public policy efforts to create a favorable economic and regulatory climate for women entrepreneurs.
- Building upon and grow partnerships with organizations and companies concerned with the sustainability and growth of women’s entrepreneurship.
