Tomorrow the National Women’s Business Council will conclude this week of many women-focused events with a ribbon cutting ceremony at the newly relocated Maryland Women’s Business Center. NWBC Chair Carla Harris will be providing remarks during this milestone occasion, and will joined by the Mayor of Rockville, Bridget Newton; Rockville Economic Development Inc. Executive Director, Laurie Boyer; SBA Regional Administrator, Natalia Olson-Urtecho; and Montgomery County Council Member Nancy Floreen to celebrate the Maryland Women’s Business Center’s growth and successful programming.

“When it comes to cultivating women entrepreneurs, we must ensure women are set up for success and getting the training and support they need to start and grow their businesses,” said NWBC Chair Carla Harris. “Women Business Centers do just that. It is our pleasure – especially in the immediate aftermath of the Women Business Center Annual Training Conference and the announcement of our newest Council Member, Marsha Bailey, Chair of the Association of Women’s Business Centers – to recognize the great work of the Maryland Women’s Business Center. The NWBC is a real champion of the Women Business Center program, and the Maryland Women’s Business Center is the perfect example of why this program is critical to the women’s business ecosystem.”

“The Maryland Women’s Business Center was established in 2010 to help women throughout our community start and grow businesses positioned for growth and long-term sustainability,” said Lori Gillen, Managing Director of the Maryland Women’s Business Center.  “We provide information, training, free counseling, peer group exchanges, and special programs to more than 1,000 people a year in a wide range of industry sectors throughout Montgomery, Prince George’s, and Frederick Counties. On behalf of the thousands of women in our community who are on the ground level turning ideas and dreams into income-generating, job-producing small businesses, we welcome and thank the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), the National Women’s Business Council, Citi Foundation, Montgomery County Government, the City of Rockville, Walmart, and our many volunteers, partners, sponsors, friends, and entrepreneurs for joining us to share their support, encouragement and assistance.”
