Rose Wang, President and CEO of Binary Group, Inc., based in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area, was appointed today to serve a three-year term, beginning in September, on the National Women’s Business Council (NWBC), a nonpartisan federal advisory council created to serve as an independent source of advice and policy recommendations to the President, Congress, and the U.S. Small Business Administration on economic issues of importance to women business owners.
“Rose Wang is a credible and knowledgeable voice for small business owners,” said Donna A. James, Chair of the NWBC, appointed by President Obama in October 2010. “She understands first-hand the unique challenges women business owners face in their journey from the start-up phase to success and significance. I look forward to working with Rose and the other women leaders of the National Women’s Business Council on the economic issues that matter most to women business owners.”
“I am honored to join this distinguished group of women business leaders,” Wang said. “I look forward to taking an active role in improving the economic environment for women business owners by sharing my expertise in business, technology, and government contracting to help spur innovation and entrepreneurship.”
Members of the NWBC are prominent women business owners and leaders of women’s business organizations. The Council’s mission is to promote bold initiatives, and review policies and programs designed to support women’s business enterprises at all stages of development in the public and private sector marketplaces.
Co-founded by Wang in 1996, Binary Group, Inc. has grown from a privately held, woman-owned information technology services company into an enterprise-oriented firm that focuses on the business transformation needs of the federal government. Inc Magazine recently recognized Binary as one of the fastest-growing, privately-held businesses in the United States. Since 2005, Binary has been listed on the Washington Technology’s Fast 50 list every year, and Washington Business Journal recently honored Binary as one of the fastest-growing companies in the greater Washington region.
In addition, Wang is a member of the board of directors for the Association of Corporate Growth (ACG) and former director of Women In Technology (WIT). She holds a post-graduate degree in computer science from the University of Houston, Texas.
