WASHINGTON – The National Women’s Business Council (NWBC) has appointed Magdalah Racine-Silva as the newest member of its nonpartisan federal advisory council. Racine-Silva is the president, chief executive and co-founder of the DMS International, a management, training and information technology services company based in Silver Spring, Md.
Racine-Silva joins NWBC at a time when women-owned businesses continue to represent one of the fastest-growing segments of the economy. She will be joining a council of prominent women business owners and leaders within the business community.
“Magdalah Racine-Silva brings to the Council both the insight of a business owner familiar with the challenges of growing her company from start-up to success. She also is knowledgeable about the economic issues and policies that affect women entrepreneurs daily,” said NWBC Chair Donna James. “She will be a valuable resource in our work as advisors to Congress, the White House and the U.S. Small Business Administration.”
Created by a 1988 federal statute, NWBC serves as an independent source of research and advice to the government on economic issues that have an impact on women entrepreneurs. It also engages with the women’s business community to determine the best policy and program recommendations to make to the president, Congress and SBA.
“I’m honored to join this distinguished group of women business leaders,” Racine-Silva said. “The current rise of woman-owned businesses in our country has the potential to have a significant impact on American competitiveness, from trade to diplomacy. I look forward to sharing ideas on this trend and how it can be further developed to increase jobs.”
Racine-Silva co-founded DMS (Data Management Services) International in 1994 with her husband. The firm provides integrated organizational, operational and technical services to federal and commercial customers. Racine-Silva, who also is a board member of the organization, Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP), will serve a three-year term.
